Swindon Shopmobility

Swindon Shopmobility is now being operated by Voluntary Action Swindon

What is Swindon Shopmobility?

Swindon’s Shopmobility scheme is available for anyone with limited mobility and provides a selection of manually-propelled and battery-powered wheelchairs and scooters. These are provided to help people with mobility difficulties when using the facilities in Swindon’s town centre.

The unit is staffed and has a waiting area with accessible toilet facilities nearby.

Available equipment includes:

  • Mobility scooters
  • Power chairs
  • Manual wheelchairs

Anyone with limited mobility, whether through permanent or temporary disability, illness, accident or age, can use the scheme. Persons under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult or carer.

Mobility Scooter Servicing

In addition to our scooter and wheelchair hire service we are also able to service mobility scooters and manual & powered wheelchairs. All servicing will be completed by a fully qualified staff member with a servicing record provided on completion.

Servicing will be completed within our building in the town center and can be used by both members and non members. Scooters can be collected and returned to customers homes for a small charge thanks to a partnership between ourselves and The Gateway Furniture Project. Servicing will be completed with scooters being returned to the customer the same day wherever possible.

Anyone who brings their scooter to us to be serviced will be offered the chance to use one of our mobility scooters to go shopping in the town center as we complete the servicing of their scooter. Non members will be charged for this but at a reduce rate to our normal costs.

Servicing will be completed Monday to Friday only.

We are also able to provide quotes for repairs to scooters, so please get in touch if you would like a quote from us.
