Voluntary Action Swindon provides training support to organisations in a variety of ways. One-day courses include First Aid, Risk Assessment, Fire Safety, Human Rights, Understanding Finance and Minute Taking. Bite size lunches are also held throughout the year for a number of relevant topics.

Basic First Aid

This Basic First Aid course provides practical training in emergency situations including:

On completion of the first aid course participants will be able to provide basic first aid. On completion participants will also receive a first aid certificate.

Health & Safety

Foundation level Certificate in Health & Safety in the Workplace - This course Provides essential knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety for employees or volunteers working in any sector. This will enable them to continue to the overall health & safety of business.

Course contents:

Health & Safety Legislation

Prevention of accidents and ill health

Risk assessment / First Aid PPE / Welfare

Work equipment / Electricity / Fire prevention

Occupation Health / Hazardous substances

Ergonomics and workstation design

Manual handling / Noise

 

The course is followed by a 30 question multiple choice test. Pass mark = 20. Credit pass = 28 and above. Successful candidates receive a Foundation.

Fire Safety Training

A qualified fire safety training consultant will deliver a half-day session on general fire safety. There will be an overview of Reformed Regulatory Order which came into effect in October 2006, and what that means to the person responsible for fire safety in your building. Also covered will be the use of fire extinguishers and the role of fire wardens.
